This area has been established to support Volunteer Managers and Coordinators. The resources will be constantly updated to ensure that the latest information, research and tools are available to support this profession. The National Standards for Involving Volunteers in Not-For-Profit Organisations are referred to throughout this area to promote a model of best practice in volunteer involvement. The Standards represent the main activities that typically occur in organisations that involve volunteers. There are 8 elements:- 1. Policies and Procedures 2. Management Responsibility 3. Recruitment, Selection and Orientation 4. Work and the Workplace 5. Training and Development 6. Service Delivery 7. Documentation and Records 8. Continuous Improvement With support from United Way, Volunteering Geelong is implementing a program - Leading with Standards which supports a best practice system for involving and managing volunteers. The program has been intentionally created with several components, enabling different levels of participation reflecting the diversity of organisational needs from multiple sectors from across our local region.
