Leading With Standards Volunteer Management Program 2013 Leading with Standards Program participants Volunteering Geelong have developed the Leading with Standards Program which promotes a model of best practice in volunteer involvement based on the National Standards for Involving Volunteers. The Leading with Standards Program assists an organisation to implement these standards within their own individual workplace setting.
Throughout 2009, 2010,2011 and 2012, 80 organisations from Geelong, Melbourne and surrounding regions have undertaken this innovative 6 month program .
2013 program participants include Volunteer West, Australian Masters Games, Volunteers of Banyule, Wimmera Volunteers, Wimmera Health Care Group, Whittlesea Community Connections & DIVRS. Broad Program Outline (flexible components available)
Organisations that participate in the program will receive the following training and support components: - 2 day workshop for the organisation’s representative or Volunteer Manager/Coordinator which will provide the detail required to implement the National Standards for Involving Volunteers.
- A series of workshops that will bring participants together to network, share ideas and concerns, strategies and documentation.
- Provision of practical support to organisations by providing examples of best practice in similar organisations (relevant to size, sector etc)
- At least 6 months support (including up to 3 site visits) from the Training & Development Manager from Volunteering Geelong to assist with the implementation process, based on the needs of each individual organisation.

Best Practice Basics Program (Abridged version of Leading with Standards)The Best Practice Basics Program aims to assist organisations with limited budgets
and resources to develop a framework for effective volunteer program management
and delivery. This exciting new initiative will
assist the implementation of a best practice volunteer management program
within your workplace setting.
The program aims to assist your
organisation to develop basic policies and procedures for the management of your
volunteer program. It has been designed to support organisations who do not have the resources required to participate in the full Leading with Standards Program, but still require basic level program support. The program can be tailored to needs of individual organisations and includes flexible components such as workshops, site visits and provision of online resources. The program can also be delivered to a group of organisations.
